Passport fees at a glance

•You often pay two separate fees: the application fee (to the U.S. Department of State) and the $35 execution/acceptance fee (to the acceptance facility) when applying with Form DS‑11. Renewals by mail (DS‑82) do not pay the execution fee.
•Optional add‑ons you can tack onto the application fee: $60 Expedited service and $22.05 1–2 day return delivery (book only; U.S. addresses).
•Two payments are required for DS‑11 applications. The application fee is paid to “U.S. Department of State”; the execution fee is paid to the facility.

•Execution/acceptance fee ($35) is paid separately to the facility (payment methods vary by location; check ahead).
•Applying at a passport agency/center (by appointment)? Those locations accept cards and contactless payments for fees at the counter.
